2000 ICOTY Awards - Classic
Most Likely to be Remembered - Audi TT

ROAD & TRAVEL's 2000 Most Likely to be Remembered -- Audi TTDid someone stomp on a Beetle? Well, that’s what it looks like to some, but to others, it is probably the most memorable design of the ‘90s. In an age where it’s hard to tell one sedan from another, the TT is a refreshing mix of contemporary styling and heritage design. Under the hood is a respectable 180-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged DOHC inline four cylinder that glides down the street. It can’t be driven quickly, though, because you’ll run over everyone surrounding the car. They just want to touch it, to feel the curves and sense what it’s all about. You will remember this car for the stiff ride and great balance, and you’ll remember the car because you didn’t have to mortgage the house to buy it. For $30,500, it’s a great piece of automotive history. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to grab a coupe while they were still available, get down to the dealership now and reserve a roadster model.  Don’t look back 20 years from now with regret that you didn’t follow your heart.
