Solace Spa at Boyne Mountain

Live Luxury at Boyne Mounatin's Solace Spa in Michigan
by Beth Garcia

Draped in luxuriously, plush robes and spa slippers, patrons of the Solace Spa at Boyne Mountain relax with loose leaf hot teas and chocolates after making their way from the treatment rooms inside Michigan's largest spa.

The 18,000-square-foot Solace Spa — located inside the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa at Boyne Mountain in Boyne Falls, Mich. — offers resort visitors and skiers a much-needed rest from the winter chill with its massage, skin care and salon treatments. At Boyne Mountain's Swiss-Austrian ski resort, Solace Spa gives opulence to even the simplest of spa treatments, focusing on European style spa relaxation.

Prior to any treatment at Solace, patrons are encouraged to take part in a traditional European-style spa experience, which includes a circuit of warming and cooling cycles with the spa's whirlpool, saunas, cool showers, aromatherapy spritzes and towel steaming.

The treatment preparation is then followed by a variety of spa treatment options, many created with a rustic Northern Michigan appeal. In addition to the typical traditional, deep tissue and sports massages, Solace Spa offers indulgent choices including an hour-long four-hand massage, prenatal massages and a Petoskey Hot Stone massage using Michigan-created Petoskey stones.

Those looking for an even more sumptuous spa experience can opt for one of Solace's premiere body treatments, which not only exfoliate a worn body, but cleanse and hydrate the skin. A patron favorite and delicious delight is the Hot Toddy for the Body, a three-step herbal exfoliation, clay body mask and hydrating massage that will leave the roughest body soothed and relaxed.

The expert massage therapists and spa staff do their best to ensure Solace Spa is a quiet haven for all those who seek a quiet afternoon. In addition to its calming treatments, the spa offers a variety of other amenities for its patrons. Those looking for a few beautifying treatments after spending the afternoon on Boyne Mountain's sky slopes can slink into Solace for its salon services including manicures, pedicures, waxing, hair cuts and coloring.

Following, or prior to, any of these spa experiences, patrons can enjoy the spa's fitness facilities and classes, which include instruction on yoga, Pilates and more. After exhausting the body, whether with fitness classes or spa treatments, Solace visitors are given ample opportunity to unwind in the Relaxation Room. Clad with airy, calming-colored lounge furniture and cool lighting, the still room features the teas, water and spa snacks patrons casually enjoy at the end of a long spa day.

Solace Spa's location makes it a great relaxation getaway for not only adventure skiers from Boyne Mountain's resort, but spa-lovers and massage-loving travelers. Parents visiting nearby Avalanche Bay - Boyne Mountain's indoor water park - can even sneak away to Solace for some romantic time without the children. The grand spa, offering everything in luxury and relaxation is a great way to unwind for an hour, or that upcoming extra-long weekend.
