Vacation European-style in Canada

Discover Canada's European-Style Vacation Attractions

While Europe has become prohibitively expensive for international travelers because of the rising Euro, the cities and resorts of Canada beckon as affordable and appealing alternatives to traditional European destinations. According to Fresh Tracks Travel, a Canadian travel company, Canada's accommodation, transportation, and attractions are especially cost-effective.

Since the Euro was introduced in January of 2002, the dollar has dropped from a high of 1.17 Euros to a low of 0.68. This means that over the last five years, travel costs to Europe have risen by 41 percent. In comparison, while the Canadian Dollar has also experienced an increase in value, travel costs remain lower for traveling Americans because of the relatively lower costs of transportation, accommodation, and tours.

"We wanted to showcase an array of adventurous Canada vacations just as appealing as their European counterparts, and much more affordable," said John Parker of Fresh Tracks Travel. "Why waste the money when you can discover the exotic sightseeing and cultural flavor of Europe with a better-value trip to Canada?"

Travelers looking for the excitement of Europe may be surprised by what they find in Canada. Here are some possible, affordable getaways with all the style of a European vacation:

Skiing in the Rockies
If you hoped for a skiing vacation in the Alps, consider the affordable Canadian Rockies. When you stay in Banff, nestled in the heart of the Rockies, you have access to three ski areas. Avid skiers should also consider vacations to the lesser-known Canadian ski resort of snowy and sunny Sun Peaks.

Romance in Toronto or Vancouver
Travelers craving a romantic weekend in London or Paris, taking in the bright lights of a lively city with dinner and a show, should consider Canada's finest cities. Toronto, 4 hours from Detroit, and Vancouver, 3 hours from Seattle, offer great deals throughout the year on romantic dining and shows in exciting cities.

History in Quebec
The history and culture of France comes alive in historic Quebec City, and with a variety of rail, hotel, and tour packages.

Adventure in the Yukon or Maritimes
Looking for the adventure in remote regions of Northern and Eastern Europe? Canada's vast and relatively unpopulated geography lend for great adventures in the Yukon or the Maritimes. In the Yukon travelers can discover nature's most incredible spectacle, the Northern Lights, while the Maritimes offer never-ending vista of quiet coastal towns and fields.
