Embassy Suites Hotel – A Great Place for Kids and Families

ROAD & TRAVEL Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Courtney Caldwell,
took her grandsons on an adventure — a good old-fashioned road trip,
where they explored a variety of locations and rested up for the
next day’s adventure at Embassy Suites.

At the end of our Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tour we headed for our host hotel, the Embassy Suites Rockland in Cleveland. The Embassy Suites is one of my favorites because they offer so many great amenities for not only families but also for business travelers on a budget. In addition to reasonable rates, the Embassy Suites rooms are spacious with the bedroom completely separated from the living area, which is nice if you’re traveling with children. The living area has a sofa bed, table and chairs, a TV, a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, great options for making your own meals. The two rooms also make it convenient for putting kids to bed early if the adults want to stay up later, although some may find themselves as pooped as the grandkids by the end of the day

Embassy Suites also include a full cook-to-order breakfast in their rate, another great option for anyone traveling with children or on a budget. Having a healthy breakfast is a great way to start the day before hitting the road again.

For business travelers, the living area offers a convenient way to entertain or meet with clients without the discomfort of a bed showing. If you prefer not to hold a meeting in your room most Embassy Suites offer a conference room, which you must reserve ahead of time. Another benefit for the business traveler is the manager’s happy hour where guests gather from 5:00-7:00pm for complimentary cocktails and snacks, another great way to entertain a client.

The Cleveland Embassy Suites was outstanding. Upon entry we were greeted by a monumental atrium; a spacious area which was host to a large wedding reception where brides and bridesmaids were fluttering around and posing for photographs.

The Embassy Suites has properties all over the U.S. and Canada, which is great if you like consistency. They’re like McDonald’s. You know exactly what you’re going to get when you get there. There are no surprises or disappointments. Although the layouts vary from hotel to hotel, most have swimming pools, full work out rooms, meeting rooms, pool tables, and game boys in each room.

After unloading our luggage in the room we enjoyed a fun and relaxing dinner in the hotel restaurant, where I experienced one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, but more importantly, Johnathan, Jake and I spent even more quality time discussing all the things we saw at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. My plan was beginning to unfold nicely.
