2007 New Car Model Guide: Ford Cars, Trucks, & SUVs

2007 FORD NEW TRUCK MODEL GUIDE
FORD TRUCKS

FordFord builds the top seller for every truck segment -- compact, full-size and super-size. The line's leader -- full-size F-150 -- year after year out-paces all other nameplates, car or truck, to rank as top-selling vehicle in America. Trucks in Ford's 2007 collection divide into light-duty and heavy-duty models with strong powertrains on tap and unique variations available, such as a new King Ranch package for F-150 Lariat with trappings of a luxury car.

Ford's full-size and light-duty (half-ton) F-150 trucks skew to many trims with V6 or V8 engines and three different four-door cab styles. Two-wheel-drive (2WD) traction is standard but four-wheel-drive (4WD) is available across the board. Ford upgrades F-150 powertrains this year, such as the 4.6-liter Triton V8 now pumping 248 hp or a flexible-fuel E85 option for Ford's 300-hp 5.4-liter Triton V8. A tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is standard in 2007 and power-folding exterior mirrors are available on FX4 and Lariat trim packages. New sheetmetal paint shades include Redfire, Pueblo Gold and Forest Green.

Ford F-250 Super Duty
2007 Ford Super Duty

Super Duty is Ford's descriptive for super-size work trucks. These trucks use gasoline engines in V8 and V10 sizes or a torque-king turbo-diesel V8. Ford's 5.4-liter V8 base plant produces 300 hp. A 6.8-liter V10 rises to 362 hp while the 6.0-liter V8 Power Stroke diesel hits 325 hp with massive torque. Super Duty trucks for 2007 appear in three configurations -- Regular Cab, SuperCab or Crew Cab. More equipment goes to Super Duty this year, such as a new Lariat Highline issue for SuperCab models or the Lariat Outlaw package on Crew Cab models.

Ford's compact trucks pack more safety gear for 2007 with a new TPMS and SecuriLock anti-theft device now stock items. Ranger trims as XL, STX, XLT, Sport, FX4 and FX4 Level II, with cab styles of two-door Regular Cab plus two-door or four-door SuperCab. The FX4 Level II adds 4WD equipment like Bilstein off-road shocks, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, plus undercarriage skid plates, tow hooks and forged aluminum wheels. Three engines continue for 2007. A 2.3-liter four-pack base plant makes 143 hp. A 3.0-liter V6 rises to 148 hp but the 4.0-liter V6 scores 207 hp.
