Stop to Smell the Roses at the Elizabeth Park Rose Gardens

Hartford
The world famous Elizabeth Park Rose Gardens is the oldest municipally operated rose garden in the country.  It is a two and a half acre garden which has about 800 varieties of roses that amount to 15,000 plants. Rambling roses cover arched walkways in the garden and the beds are filled with roses of every shape and color. Along the border, fences of climbing and shrub roses provide a colorful background for the bedding plants. www.elizabethpark.org

Mystic
Mystic Seaport occupies the site of three of the five shipyards that once lined the Mystic River and collectively launched 600 vessels between 1784 and 1919. Mystic Seaport today is the country’s leading maritime museum, guardian of the largest collections of boats and sea-related photography in the world. Take part in all three of Mystic Seaport’s experiences -- the village, exhibit galleries and a unique shipyard where the nearly lost art of wooden shipbuilding endures. www.mysticseaport.org
